“Security” Not Just an IT Issue Anymore!

Because so many business decisions are driven by the bottom line (and a company’s Chief Financial Officer), security issues need to not fall solely on the shoulders of an organization’s IT professional. CFOs and other financial leaders need to take a more active role in the protection of data as many security breaches could have been avoided should additional investments have been made in technology and security measures.

According to Larry Clinton, president of the Internet Security Alliance, in an SC Magazine article from Oct. 20, 2008: “We think that if a CFO better appreciates the value of information security and better realizes the risk financially to his organization … they are apt to fund (cybersecurity) better and more appropriately.”
