Data-Driven
Decision Making with SIF
The term Data-Driven Decision Making was
introduced fairly recently by the No Child Left Behind Act
(NCLB). This concept involves the collection and analysis of
a variety of student data to make more informed decisions about
instruction. This ability has become a necessity for schools
in light of the new stringent requirements of NCLB.
At
Integrity Technology Solutions we believe that people are empowered
to set and attain goals when they have good information on which
to base decisions. We recommend taking a best practices approach
to Data-Driven Decision Making. We assert that in order to make
effective decisions with data, you must:
- Integrate
- Configure your systems to allow
them to communicate and share information.
- SIF is the enabler for Integration.
- Consolidate
- Aggregate all student data together
in a single location - the Data Warehouse.
- Disseminate
- Develop an intuitive interface for
accessing data in a Web-based or desktop application.
- Provide individualized view of data
for different audiences: students, superintendents, teachers,
and parents.
- Distribute the data using a Web
portal or a 'digital dashboard', email, static formats
(e.g., PDF), or spreadsheets.
