McLean County Unit District No. 5

McLean County Unit District No. 5, a large unit district in Central Illinois, engaged Integrity Technology Solutions to integrate four of their critical district information systems so that common student data could be shared more easily and effectively. Using the Schools Interoperability Framework, or SIF, Integrity implemented a solution that enabled the data to be shared while allowing the district to retain their existing technology investment.

As a result, district personnel saved time and money that was formerly spent on manual exports and imports of data. This savings enabled the district to refocus their efforts on more strategic uses of student data.

McLean County Unit District No. 5 Overview
  • 11,000 Students
  • 1,500 Staff Members
  • 16 elementary, 3 junior high, and 2 high school buildings
  • 3,000+ Computers
Before SIF Implementation:
  • Applications and data are segregated from one another
  • Redundant data entry is common
  • Disconnected applications increase support costs
  • Data reporting is costly and inefficient
  • Data is inaccessible to decision-makers
Systems Integrated Into the SIF Zone:
  • CPSI SIF-Connect Server
  • CIMS (Student Management System)
  • VersaTrans (Transportation System)
  • FileMaker (IEP System)
  • Novell Directory Services (Student Accounts)

After SIF Implementation:

  • Data entered only once and shared seamlessly and almost immediately with other applications
  • Allowed applications to exchange data more effectively without time-consuming data import process or additional development effort
  • Enabled ability to create powerful reports by accessing data from multiple applications
  • Eliminated need to manage multiple data sources
  • Allowed for real-time access to important information and opportunities for better data analysis

Through the SIF implementation, Integrity Technology Solutions was able to provide McLean County Unit District No. 5 with a cost-effective, robust solution to their integration needs. Because of the tremendous success of this implementation, McLean County Unit District No. 5 has elected to partner with Integrity for the development and deployment of the next step in the Data-Driven Decision Making - a Data Warehousing and Reporting solution.
